Christine Safa
Le Chesnay, France · Lives and works in Palaiseau, near Paris
Represented by Galerie Lelong & Co.
Christine Safa paints landscapes from memory, in which faces merge with mountains and silhouettes with horizons. Her spare, vivid paintings carry a warm palette that recalls her Mediterranean roots; she describes them as tributes, fragments of memories.
She graduated from the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Her work has been shown at the ICA Milan, the Frac Auvergne, the Fondation Pernod Ricard, MUCEM, MOCO Montpellier, the Fondation Carmignac and the Centre Pompidou-Metz. She was awarded the Jean-François Prat Prize for contemporary painting.
